Cats are very loyal pets and look to you for loyalty in return. They are looking to you to help take care of them throughout their lifetime, and in return, they give you love and loyalty. Part of taking care of your cat is to declaw and neuter them, although some cat owners do not like the idea of doing either of these to their pet. There are pros and cons to doing these procedures, but in the end they can help in the care and life of your cat. Read on for reasons why you should neuter and declaw your cat.

Prevent Injury

Declawing helps to prevent injury and damage to you and your home, but it can also prevent injury to your pet(s). Cats' claws can be very sharp, and they can leave some serious marks. You, your family, or your other pets can injured by your cat's claws. Your cat can also get injured from it's own claws. Their sharp nails can get caught in the carpeting or furniture around your home, and they could rip out their own nail, which can be very painful. Having your cat declawed can prevent all of these things.

Prevent Overpopulation

If you don't neuter your cat, you could be overpopulating the neighborhood with cats without even knowing about it, or populating your own home with more cats as well. If you don't spay and neuter your cats, you could end up with kittens that you may not be able to care for, which leaves you having to find a home for these kittens or taking them to a shelter that is already full of cats. Neutering your cat is the responsible thing to do as a pet owner, especially if you have other cats in your home or you allow your cat to go outside.

Aid In Calming

If you neuter your cat, it can help aid in calming your cat down a bit. If your cat is aggressive, neutering may help prevent your cat from being too aggressive, especially with the other animals in your home. Your can may still be a little wild, but the aggressiveness will be better.

If you aren't sure if you should neuter your cat or if you should have your cat declawed, use the information above to help. Talk to your veterinarian about whether you should have these procedures done to your cat.

However, the longer I owned him, the more I realized that I needed the help of a veterinarian to prevent ongoing health problems. I found a great pet doctor who offered everything I needed, and we worked together to improve the health of my little furry friend. On this blog, check out all of the benefits of working with a veterinarian, because you never really know how much of a difference you could make in your pet's life.
